ABOUT US

BEE Liberia is a non-profit organization that offers educational institutions and social services to the youth and communities of Liberia. Like our acronym BEE (Believe. Educate. Empower) we believe that through solid educational and social services, we can engage and empower a new generation of Liberian boys and girls to go on and excel in any field. Our mascot, the bee, also symbolizes the resilient, collectivist, intelligent, strong, and resourceful nature of our students and community.

Our schools, the  Olivia S. Washington Schools of Liberia are institutions dedicated to serving the educational needs of children from Gbarngba Town to Monrovia and surrounding towns.

We are revolutionizing the Liberian school system by offering computer classes to our primary school students. We provide school lunches or snacks, which enable our children to be focused and stable while the learning process continues. We also offer our community free access to our schools library. Our goals include expanding our property to offer more instructional space and after school programs where they can complete homework while also being mentored in a safe and encouraging environment.

Please consider partnering with us both financially and prayerfully to continue to build our community through our schools.

“The people of Liberia know that education is the key to the country’s future, the means by which their children will raise themselves from poverty. They also understand that the more a person is taught to think for herself, the more she will do so and will not be so easily led.”

Our History

Obtaining a quality education can be difficult when there is little access to financial resources and no access to vital infrastructures such as running water and electricity. Many of our hundreds of students are less fortunate and were forced to walk more than an hour to attend school. This need drove us to work with our community, local and abroad, to offer students an engaging quality education that is forward thinking, yet affordable.

The children at Olivia S. Washington School of Gbarngba Town  were taught by four teachers. Close friends, such as Marge Hansel and Sherry Zimpetilla tried to help with the payment of teacher’s and benches for the school. However we were still unable to sustain our school so we began transitioning our school over to the Liberian government to run.  Even with two friends to help, it remained hard to sustain the over two hundred registered students with no major financial backing.

Fast forward to 2013, God pressed upon our heart to try once again, and the OSW School of Red Hill Field was established. Thanks to Olivia Sarnor's worthwhile efforts and donations from places such as The Eastern University Library, East Bradford Elementary School, and Chichester School District,  we can boast today that computer technology, library facilities and materials are available to students of OSW School of Red Hill Field.  We are blessed to say that this institution is now equipped with teaching faculty and staff who help to provide children with a consistent, quality, and applicable educational experience.

Thank You for visiting our page and please know that what you donate below to help build our schools, will be deeply appreciated for generations to come.
